Die wohl kurioseste Hundegeschichte meiner 13 Jahre auf Korfu: Im Frühjahr 2021 zog Welpe Oresti ins Honigtal Farmland ein – lebensfroh, verspielt, Liebling der Kinder. Wie Hofhund Friksos begleitete er Gäste zum Strand und kehrte allein zurück. Im Hochsommer 2022 blieb er jedoch aus: Trotz wochenlanger Suche und Halsband mit Telefonnummer blieb Oresti verschwunden; man hielt ihn für gestohlen und hoffte auf ein gutes neues Leben für ihn. Am vergangenen Freitag folgte mir ein verwahrloster, verletzter, verängstigter kleiner Hund bis ins Büro. Friksos schnüffelte, wedelte – und mir wurde klar: Das ist Oresti! Große Freude bei allen, besonders bei seiner Familie Andreas Avlonitis, Irene Mavropoulou und den Kindern Elena und Dimitri. Andreas entfernte das zu enge Halsband, versorgte die Wunden und badete ihn. Nach drei Tagen im „Paradies“ ist Oresti fast wieder der Alte: unser lebensverliebter kleiner Rückkehrer – möge er so bleiben.

The most curious dog story from 13 years on Corfu: In spring 2021, puppy Oresti joined Honigtal Farmland—playful and adored by the children. He often escorted guests to the beach and returned alone. In summer 2022 he vanished; despite weeks of searching, he was presumed stolen. Last Friday, a small, neglected, injured, and scared dog followed me into the office. Friksos wagged, I looked closer—it was Oresti! Everyone, especially his family Andreas Avlonitis, Irene Mavropoulou, and kids Elena and Dimitri, welcomed him with joy. Andreas removed a too-tight collar, treated his wounds, and bathed him. After three days back in “paradise,” Oresti is almost himself again—our life-loving little comeback kid.

Children discovered this fluffy creature in our meadow - before any of the cats there could notice it 🙏🏼
Apparently there is a nest of owls in one of the palm trees. It's a miracle that the little one survived this fall! Bringing it back to the nest was not an option due to the height. Unfortunately, leaving it in the meadow wasn't an option either because of the cats. That's why we put it in a cat box and looked after it. After some initial skepticism, it eagerly accepted the small pieces of raw chicken liver. It was clear to us that hand-rearing owlets is very difficult. That's why we looked for and found the professionals from the @animawild association who take care of just such cases! They are in Athens, but no problem: our little friend took the bus there and was picked up by ANIMA at 5 a.m. this morning at the Athens bus station 🤠 Before that, he devoured a few good chunks of liver to fortify him for the strenuous journey 🚌 We hope that everything goes well and wish him all the best: Get well soon, little friend ❤️ And have a great life then!
