" Porto Timoni " / the hidden twin bay
The enchanting landscape of Corfu - a hike with special impressions!
Below the mountain village of Afionas, the beautiful beaches of the twin bay "Porto Timoni" are hidden and not easily accessible.
The hike takes us north from Agios Georgios and the Honigtal farmland, uphill to the neighboring, picturesque village of Afionas.
From there you have a breathtaking view over the Ionian Sea, the offshore islands (Mathraki, Erikussa and Othoni) and the largest part of our island of Corfu.
The small alleyways of Afionas invite you to take a long look around.
After a walk through the village, we make the half-hour descent through the dense Corfiot maquis down to the two small beaches.
These beaches or bays are separated from each other by a narrow strip of land and also have two different names: Limni is the name of the smaller one, the lake in Greek, and Porto Timoni, the larger one.
Not only the names are different , also the color of the sea and the water temperature differ from each other .
"Porto Timoni" offers you warmer or colder water as well as deep blue or light blue sea.
It is not developed for tourism, there are no sunbeds or sunshades - but pure nature!
For the way back to Agios Georgios we use a boat-taxi and enjoy the sea and the coast once again.
